Purchase of James, Harvey & Norman's Accountancy Practice

Our firm has agreed with Ian Chatfield to purchase the accountancy practice of James, Harvey & Norman Ltd which took effect on Friday, 29 January 2021.

We are delighted that Ian will continue to be employed by us to provide continuity of service for former clients of James, Harvey & Norman Ltd.  Clients can expect the same quality personal and competitively priced service which Ian and his team have provided in the past.

Ian made the following comments about this change:

Graham & Dobson are Gisborne's longest established accountancy practice having been formed in 1906.  Back in the day, 1982, when I first returned to Gisborne after gaining my qualifications and working in Auckland and London, I worked at Graham & Dobson for Richard Stannard's father, David Stannard.  I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Graham & Dobson and have maintained close ties to them throughout my career.  They are great bunch of people; excellent accountants and their fees are reasonable.  I am in no doubt that all James, Harvey and Norman Ltd clients will be well looked after at Graham & Dobson.

Like many businesses, over the years accounting firms have been lumbered with more and more compliance issues, even more complicated tax matters, digital destruction and other things, which have made it more and more challenging for all practitioners, especially sole practitioners, to operate.  I will therefore be pleased to have the support of the team at Graham & Dobson.

We have integrated the James, Harvey & Norman Ltd business with our existing premises on the corner of Disraeli Street and Gladstone Road where there is parking available for clients. The phone number to contact Ian is now 869 1234 where our receptionists will be happy to take your call.  Ian's email address is available here.

When Peter and Sylvia Jex-Blake purchased 107 Disraeli Street in 2007, the Sunshine Brewery was the only tenant.  The balance of the site consisted of the original Gisborne Sheepfarmers warehouse, and the original Sheepfarmers manager's residence.  In search of a use for the warehouse, Peter came across the Self Storage industry.  Contact was made with a consultant, who put together a plan to convert the site into a self storage facility.  Hence, the beginning of Self Storage Gisborne...

  • Graham & Dobson helped me start my own business in 2007. Without their help and support the process would have been a lot harder. They offer excellent on-going support and advice.
